We're considering purchasing a Mac Pro quadcore machine and
are looking for suggestions on what resources will be sufficient to
make it effective for running Molpro jobs.

(1) Will 8 GB be enough memory?

(2) What type of hard drives would minimize bogging down in IO?
The standard Seagate drive has been described as "sluggish," but
that can reportedly be remedied using an SAS drive instead.

(3) Also, does it help to specify primary and secondary scratch
directories on separate drives? (Is it better to have two drives or
one large one?)

We would appreciate hearing any responses to these questions or
any other advice about resources or the usefulness of newer Mac
Pro machines (in any confiuguration) for either serial or parallel
Molpro jobs.

Thanks!
