Molpro configure fails on RedHat 9.0 with PGI compilers on DELL 2.4GHz

Attempt to run ./configure on on RedHat 9.0 Dell 2.4 GHz with Portland Group compilers fails.
Error reported as :
    This architecture or combination of architecture and integer
    size is proably not supported. Sorry ....
This is a new install of both Portland Group Workstation and MolPro 2002.6 without patches applied.
