TMPDIR, I believe, points to /tmp and it is writable. I am running
molpro on just one computer, which has 16 cpus (not a cluster). It
should not be doing rsh/ssh (?). By the way, 
molpro-mpp-Linux-x86_64-i8-2006.1
runs just fine on the same machine.
